Police conducted 60 searches in Neamț, Iași, and Suceava targeting an organized crime group involved in cigarette smuggling. The groups, consisting of Romanian and Moldovan citizens, operated since 2024 and 2025, aiming for significant financial gains. One group had a more complex structure with defined roles, while the other had a cross-border operation extending to Italy, Germany, and the UK. Various quantities of cigarettes were seized during the investigation, and several individuals are expected to be questioned by DIICOT.
