Two segments of the Transylvania Highway are set to open this year, following a long history of delays and contract issues. Originally signed in 2003 by Adrian Năstase, the project faced numerous setbacks, including a contract termination in 2013 after only 54 km were completed. Despite the challenges, there are now expectations for the opening of 28.55 km between Biharia and Chiribiș by December. The project has seen multiple contractors, with significant delays and legal disputes affecting progress. Another section, 26.35 km between Suplacu de Barcău and Chiribiș, is also anticipated to open in November, although construction has faced slowdowns. Overall, the completion of these segments marks a significant milestone in Romania's infrastructure development.
