Four individuals and companies have been indicted by the National Anticorruption Directorate in Galați for illegally obtaining over 3.1 million lei from European funds intended for irrigation projects. The fraud involved a family conflict of interest disguised through falsifications. Between January 2017 and October 2018, the defendants orchestrated a scheme to manipulate tenders for two irrigation projects worth 8.58 million lei. They submitted false invoices and payment orders to the Agency for the Financing of Rural Investments, creating the illusion of legitimate payments. The total damage amounts to 3,190,916 lei, with the DNA securing assets for recovery. The case is now before the Galați Tribunal.
