24 iulie: Ziua Poliției de Frontieră Române. 162 de ani de la începuturile instituției

Romania celebrates the Border Police Day on July 24, marking 162 years since the unification of border forces in 1864. This event initiated the modern organization of border security in Romania. The Border Police's role has evolved, especially after the elimination of border checks with Hungary and Bulgaria in 2025, allowing free movement within the Schengen Area. However, random checks can still occur within 30 kilometers of the border to prevent illegal activities. External border controls remain in place with Serbia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
