The Romanian Railway Reform Authority has selected the winner of the tender for 23 new locomotives, with offers from Softronic, Alstom, and Siemens. The announcement of the winning bidder is expected soon. The locomotives will feature ERTMS systems, capable of speeds up to 160 km/h and hauling 16 passenger cars. The estimated contract value ranges from 1.1 to 1.57 billion lei. Maintenance and repair services are included for a period of 20 years, with potential for an additional 20 years without a competitive procedure.
