The Romanian Railway Reform Authority has completed the evaluation of offers for the procurement of 23 new electric locomotives. The winning bid was submitted by the Siemens Mobility consortium, which includes Siemens Mobility SRL, Siemens Mobility GmbH, and Siemens Mobility Austria GmbH. The project aims to replace high-emission rolling stock with sustainable alternatives, promoting low-carbon technologies in rail transport. The total project value is approximately 764 million lei, funded by modernization funds and the state budget. The implementation period is set for 42 months, with the contract signing contingent on the resolution of any contestations.
