Archaeologists discovered over 2,600 silver coins from the 15th century in Kolomna, near Moscow, possibly buried by a plague victim. The coins, hidden in a ceramic vessel, represent the largest intact deposit of Russian silver coins from that era. Most coins are 'denga', used in the Grand Duchy of Moscow, and were minted during the reigns of Vasily I and Vasily II. The burial may relate to a plague outbreak in the 1420s, suggesting the owner might have died without retrieving the treasure. This find offers valuable insights into the monetary history of medieval Kolomna.
