190 de organizații și reprezentanți ai mediului academic cer ministrului Justiției să acționeze: Femicidele ar putea fi prevenite doar dacă legea este aplicată
The FILIA Center and eLiberare Association have sent an open letter to the Justice Minister, supported by over 190 civil society organizations, urging immediate implementation of femicide prevention measures outlined in Law No. 53/2026. This law, hailed as a historic legislative success, requires timely application to be effective. The deadline for adopting risk assessment tools is approaching, while the deadline for a unified data collection methodology has already passed. Since the beginning of 2025, at least 97 women have been murdered in Romania, many of whom had sought help from authorities. The letter calls for the adoption of risk assessment tools, prioritization of data collection methodologies, involvement of NGOs and experts, and a working meeting to establish a concrete implementation timeline.
