In 2025, Romania had the highest percentage in the EU of people unable to afford a meat-based meal every two days, at 18.1%. This figure is more than double the EU average of 8.5%. Additionally, Romania also recorded the highest rate of households unable to pay for a personal internet connection, at 6.2%, compared to the EU average of 2%. The data highlights significant disparities in living conditions across EU member states, with Romania facing considerable challenges in access to basic necessities and services.
