16 cetățeni ruși, trimiși în judecată după ce ar fi obținut acte românești cu certificate false
Sixteen Russians have been indicted for using fake Romanian citizenship certificates to obtain identity cards and passports. Authorities annulled 1,702 identity cards of foreign citizens after verifying fictitious residency. The accused allegedly used false citizenship documents issued by Romanian diplomatic missions in St. Petersburg, Baku, and Moldova between February and July 2024. They managed to register births in Romania and obtain personal identification numbers and Romanian birth certificates. The charges include forgery and complicity in falsifying official documents. The prosecutor has requested the annulment of the fake citizenship certificates and related documents, as well as the confiscation of funds received by those who falsely registered the accused. The case has been sent to the Câmpulung Moldovenesc Court, with six prior guilty pleas recorded.
