15 septembrie: Sfantul Ierarh Iosif cel Nou de la Partoș, ocrotitorul pompierilor. Viața și minunile sale

Saint Joseph the New of Partos, celebrated on September 15, is a revered figure in the Banat region and the patron saint of firefighters in Romania. Born around 1568 in Dubrovnik, he became a monk and later the Metropolitan of Timișoara in 1650. Known for his compassion towards the sick and poor, he reorganized church life and supported the construction of churches. A notable miracle attributed to him involved extinguishing a fire in Timișoara through prayer, leading to his designation as the protector of firefighters in 1997. He retired to Partos Monastery in 1653, where he died in 1656. Canonized in 1950, his relics are housed in the Metropolitan Cathedral in Timișoara, attracting many pilgrims each year.
