15 august, ziua martiriului Brâncovenilor. Constantin și-a văzut cei patru fii uciși înaintea sa

On August 15, 1714, Constantin Brâncoveanu and his four sons were executed in a brutal manner, marking a tragic moment in Romanian history. Brâncoveanu, who ruled for 26 years, faced severe torture before his execution, which was carried out by the Ottomans. Despite offers of clemency if they converted to Islam, Brâncoveanu and his sons refused, choosing to uphold their Orthodox faith. The execution was witnessed by his family, and their bodies were secretly buried after being retrieved from the Bosphorus. This day also marks other historical events, including Germany's declaration of war on Romania in 1916 and the birth of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1769.
