In August, Salvamont Romania conducted over 500 rescue operations, saving 667 individuals, while 14 fatalities were reported. The number of interventions decreased compared to the previous year. Most rescues occurred in mountainous areas, with support from drones and search dogs. The National Salvamont Dispatch received numerous emergency calls, including requests for information about mountain trails. Despite the high demand, the operational capacity of the teams is only 18.75%. Currently, around 860 certified mountain rescuers are active, with many in training.
