12 țări cer UE să-și consolideze prezența în Arctica

Twelve countries gathered in Rovaniemi, Finland, urged the EU to enhance its Arctic presence amid geopolitical tensions and threats from Russia. They called for a more proactive role for the EU in ensuring collective security in the region. Participants included leaders from France, Denmark, and Sweden, emphasizing that Arctic developments are a European issue. Although no official decisions were made, the meeting precedes the EU's upcoming Arctic strategy. The EU's interest in the Arctic has grown, particularly after a dedicated policy was adopted in 2021. Climate change and melting ice are also central concerns, creating both challenges and new economic opportunities in the region.
