The Local Food Bank of Sector 6 has redirected over 1,000 tons of food to communities in need, preventing waste. This amount, equivalent to 50 truckloads, has been redistributed instead of being discarded. A recent event gathered over 60 representatives from companies, authorities, and NGOs to discuss effective food donation strategies and legislative compliance to combat food waste. In two years, the food bank has recovered 1,019 tons of food valued at approximately 3.6 million euros, providing over 620,000 meals and 82,000 weekend food packages. The event coincided with the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste, highlighting ongoing efforts to address food waste in Romania, regulated by Law no. 217/2016 and its amendments.
