China has completed the world's highest solar thermal power plant on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, designed to operate in extreme conditions. The 100 MW Tushuo plant features nearly 16,000 heliostats that concentrate solar energy to produce steam for electricity generation. This facility can store thermal energy for up to eight hours, allowing it to supply power even after sunset. The project aims to produce around 255 million kWh annually, enough to power 50,000 homes and replace 60,000 tons of coal consumption, reducing CO2 emissions significantly. The construction faced challenges due to high altitude and harsh weather conditions, making it a remarkable engineering achievement.
