Starting August 16, the Romanian government will temporarily reduce the diesel excise tax by 20% for two weeks to alleviate rising fuel prices. This measure comes in response to a significant increase in international diesel prices and aims to ease the financial burden on consumers and businesses. The expected price reduction at the pump could be around 68 bani per liter, depending on market conditions. The Finance Minister stated that the excise tax will be reassessed biweekly based on market developments.
