Prognoza de inflație BNR pentru 2026, revizuită la 6,1%

The governor of BNR, Mugur Isărescu, announced an upward revision of the inflation forecast for December 2026 to 6.1%. This increase is attributed to factors like heatwaves and drought affecting energy production. Despite the rise, the overall trend remains downward, with expectations for inflation to return to target levels by late 2027. Isărescu noted that the Romanian economy is not expected to recover quickly due to declining consumer spending and stagnant personal credit. However, corporate borrowing is increasing significantly. BNR maintains a strong disinflation scenario despite the revised forecast.
