This year, drivers will be able to travel on the highway from Sălaj to Sibiu or Deva, as announced by interim Transport Minister Radu Miruță. He stated that up to 100 kilometers of the Transylvanian Highway will be opened, marking a significant advancement in the project. Miruță emphasized the importance of European funding in this progress and noted that Romania still has a limited highway network, which impacts road safety and economic development. He highlighted the need for a balanced distribution of highways across the country and acknowledged past project delays. A new 12.24 km section from Zimbor to Poarta Sălajului has recently been opened, funded by the Transport Program 2021-2027.
