Două figurine din fildeș de mamut, vechi de 40.000 de ani, descoperite într-o peșteră din Germania

Archaeologists discovered two small bird figurines carved from mammoth ivory in Hohle Fels cave, Germany, dating back around 40,000 years. These artifacts, the smallest known figurative sculptures from this era, reveal insights into the artistic talent and symbolism of early modern humans in Europe. The figurines, measuring about two centimeters, exhibit intricate anatomical details and may have served as personal talismans or identity symbols. Hohle Fels is a significant Upper Paleolithic archaeological site, housing some of the oldest known figurative sculptures and musical instruments. The new findings will be displayed at a special exhibition until April 2027.
