The fire in the Gironde region near Bordeaux is under control, but some areas remain active, preventing residents from returning home. 220,000 people were evacuated, with 198,000 able to return. Fires have devastated 42,000 hectares in the area, and nationwide, around 119,000 hectares have been affected this year. Attention is now shifting to a new fire in the Var region, which has rapidly spread over 1,000 hectares, with 1,500 firefighters deployed to manage it.
