Guvern: Datoria guvernamentală la finalul lui 2025-sub plafonul de 60% din PIB prevăzut de Tratatul de la Maastricht
As of December 31, 2025, Romania's public debt reached 57.7% of GDP, remaining below the Maastricht threshold. The total public debt was 1,284 billion lei, with government debt at 1,255.6 billion lei. The increase in debt was primarily due to budget deficit financing and debt refinancing. Romania ranked 14th in the EU for government debt relative to GDP, below both Eurozone and EU averages. Fiscal consolidation measures in 2025 aimed to reduce the budget deficit to 2.5% of GDP by 2034, maintaining sustainable public debt levels.
