Bucharest Mayor: Insolvency - the sole legal option for STB's financial and operational restructuring

Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu announced that insolvency is the only viable option for restructuring the Bucharest Transport Company (STB), which faces severe financial issues. The company's debt reached RON 1.72 billion in 2025, primarily due to unpaid employee contributions and mismanagement. Ciucu criticized the Bucharest Public Transport Inter-community Development Association for failing its role and highlighted the need for immediate action to prevent further financial deterioration. He emphasized that declaring insolvency could protect the city's budget and prevent penalties and service disruptions.
