The Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) announced the reception of the Traxx Passenger electric locomotive LE 012, built by Alstom, for commercial service. This locomotive is part of a contract for 16 multisystem electric locomotives aimed at modernizing the railway fleet. The LE 012 will be operated by CFR Călători after registration in the European Vehicle Register. The project focuses on reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency in rail transport. The total project cost is approximately 441.78 million lei, funded by the Modernization Fund, with implementation scheduled for 31 months.
