The incident occurred approximately 13 nautical miles southeast of Sulina, prompting the deployment of naval and aerial resources, including the rescue vessel 'Apollo' and a helicopter. This incident follows another involving a vessel hit by a drone in the same area, which resulted in a fire but with the crew evacuated safely.
