Petrolierul Berca, făcut la Galați între 1989 și 2001, tăiat la fier vechi de chinezi, după 25 de ani de muncă • Newsweek România

The Berca oil tanker, built in Galați between 1989 and 2001, was scrapped in China after 25 years of service. Construction began in 1989, but the ship was only completed in 2001 due to financial issues. Initially intended for Navrom, it was sold to Magnus Carrier and renamed Duke. Over the years, it changed ownership multiple times, sailing under various flags, including Malta and Venezuela. In 2010, it was sold to China, where it underwent several name changes. The tanker was finally sold for scrap in 2026 after a final voyage to India.
