Metoda genială care ar putea opri definitiv intoxicațiile alimentare
British researchers discovered that blue light can effectively eliminate Campylobacter bacteria from raw chicken, a common cause of food poisoning. The study, conducted by the University of Reading and APHA, showed that this method destroyed all tested strains, including antibiotic-resistant ones. The technique avoids chemicals, addressing antibiotic resistance issues. Researchers believe that implementing this technology in processing units could significantly reduce contamination rates. However, commercial use is not yet possible, as further testing on naturally contaminated carcasses is required. The economic impact of Campylobacter-related illnesses is estimated at £700 million annually.
