Realitatea curentului „verde”: Europa are nevoie de 200 GW de baterii și are doar 64 GW. România, abia 2 GW • Newsweek România
Europe's energy system faces a significant challenge in balancing renewable energy sources, requiring 200 GW of battery storage but currently having only 64 GW. Romania's storage capacity is particularly low at just 2 GW, far below the estimated need of at least 8 GW to manage peak consumption. The rapid increase in renewable energy installations, projected to reach 1,640 GW by 2030, exacerbates the storage deficit. The lack of adequate storage complicates grid stability and increases costs, as seen in Romania's reliance on expensive energy imports during peak demand. Experts suggest Romania should aim for 12 GW of storage capacity by 2050 to effectively support its energy needs.
