Povestea școlii de peste 400 de ani din Săliște: elevii veneau cu lemne pentru foc, iar un preot și-a vândut boii ca să o termine

The school in Săliște, one of Romania's oldest, has a rich history of community support for education, dating back to 1616. Parents contributed firewood and funds for teachers, while notable alumni include six members of the Romanian Academy. The first dedicated school building was established in 1821, and local efforts led to significant educational advancements, including a public examination system. The community's commitment to education is evident in their historical initiatives, such as petitioning the emperor for funding and constructing facilities through public subscriptions. Today, the school continues to serve over 850 children from surrounding areas.
