CURS VALUTAR. ING explică de ce a picat leul atât de mult într-o singură zi. BNR lasă cursul mai liber. Ce urmează? - Economica.net

The Romanian leu experienced its largest daily fluctuation due to the failed vote for a new government and upcoming sovereign rating review by S&P. ING Bank notes that while no rating change is expected, the BNR is increasingly open to allowing more flexibility in the EUR/RON exchange rate, adding risk to this currency pair. The leu jumped from just below 5.280 to 5.344 against the euro following the confidence vote failure. A downgrade could lead to significant pressure on Romanian assets, especially since the country is already at the lowest investment grade. Current low yields on Romanian bonds make them vulnerable to market shocks, and the BNR's willingness to adjust the exchange rate adds further risk.
