The building that houses the National Office for Gambling, once owned by furrier Sigmund Prager, has a rich historical background. Located on Calea Victoriei, it has undergone numerous transformations over the centuries, witnessing significant events in Bucharest's history. Originally the site of Ienăchiță Văcărescu's mansion, it later became the headquarters of the Romanian Lottery. Archaeological excavations revealed remnants of various structures, including a chapel founded by Văcărescu in 1778. The building was classified as a historical monument in 2008, highlighting its architectural and cultural significance. Prager, a notable figure in commerce, contributed to the architectural plans for the Palace of the Stock Exchange in the early 20th century.
