Google has been fined €403 million by the Irish Data Protection Authority for violating GDPR regulations regarding user geolocation data. This penalty is the fourth largest ever imposed by the Data Protection Commission (DPC), which oversees Google in Europe. The investigation, initiated in February 2020, focused on compliance with GDPR concerning features like 'Web and App Activity' and 'Location History'. Google acknowledged the historical nature of the rules and stated that it has improved its data management practices since 2019. The DPC is also conducting three other advanced investigations into Google.
