The European Commission has approved Romania's Action Plan to unblock sheep and goat exports, paving the way for a reassessment of the country's epidemiological status. This approval does not impact the export of carcasses, milk, or dairy products. The plan was unanimously supported by representatives from all EU member states. A new official decision will establish a special vaccination status for high-risk counties, while non-EU countries must validate new veterinary conditions for imports. The vaccination strategy will vary by regional epidemiological risk, with full immunization in high-risk areas. The 1.3 million vaccine doses provided by the EU will be administered free of charge to farmers, and government compensation mechanisms will support affected farmers. Authorities will enhance controls to prevent illegal animal movements that could hinder the new decision's adoption.
