UM Cugir cumpără, cu 54 de milioane de euro, utilaje speciale cu care să fabrice muniţie de tip NATO

The Cugir Mechanical Plant has signed a €54 million contract to modernize its industrial infrastructure and increase production capacity for NATO ammunition. This strategic program aims to enhance working conditions and environmental responsibility while diversifying the range of ammunition produced, specifically 5.56 x 45 mm and 12.7 x 99 mm calibers. The special equipment will enable the production of various NATO ammunition components at a rate of 80 cartridges per minute. The project, valued at over 552.9 million lei, is the largest investment in Cugir in 30 years and is supported by Romanian government funding. The modernization includes several phases, with completion expected by late 2026.
