Victims have been tricked into installing apps that allow criminals to access their bank accounts and withdraw funds. One woman lost 90,000 lei after being misled into believing she was accessing her own money. Another man was manipulated through a series of fake calls from supposed bank and police representatives, leading him to withdraw cash for a cryptocurrency ATM. Banks often refuse to resolve these issues, claiming the victims authorized the transactions. Experts warn against sharing sensitive information and installing apps based on unsolicited calls.
