A cable from the Nazi German Luftwaffe, installed in 1943 to warn of Allied bombers, was accidentally discovered at a construction site in Bavaria. The cable was part of a warning network designed to quickly relay information about incoming bombers towards Munich. Found in Pastetten during excavation for a new fire station and flood protection road, the cable was not on construction plans. Electrician Matthias Zimmerer identified it by its markings, linking it to a wartime company that produced military cables. The network included observation points and a control center, operational until 1945, when it was decommissioned but left underground due to removal costs. The cable, with 400 wires, has survived decades underground due to its protective materials.
