Techirghiol-Movilă, the oldest seaside resort in Romania, was established in 1902 on land originally owned by Mihail Kogălniceanu. It later became known as Eforie Sud after several name changes. The resort is located between Lake Techirghiol and the Black Sea, approximately 14-19 kilometers south of Constanța. Initially, it was founded by Ioan Movilă, who recognized the therapeutic value of the lake's mud. Despite his death in 1904, his family continued to develop the area, leading to the construction of numerous hotels and villas. The resort underwent several name changes, including Carmen Sylva and Vasile Roaită, before finally being named Eforie Sud in 1962. The first organized beach in Romania dates back to 1882, with various developments occurring in the following years.
