BBC has officially announced the return of the iconic car show Top Gear after a four-year hiatus due to an accident involving co-host Andrew Flintoff. The show was suspended in 2022 following Flintoff's serious injuries during filming. Although the BBC has not confirmed the new presenting team, sources suggest comedian Jimmy Carr is in advanced talks to host. Other potential hosts include rugby player Joe Marler and model Jodie Kidd. The show's director confirmed the return at the Edinburgh Television Festival, but did not provide details on the lineup. Top Gear, which began in 1977, became hugely popular in the 2000s with hosts like Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, who are not involved in the new project.
