Prosecutor Radu George Bucurică has been suspended and placed in preventive detention due to serious allegations including illegal possession of weapons and public disorder. The suspension was initiated by the Superior Council of Magistracy following a disciplinary investigation. The High Court later ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days after overturning a previous decision that had allowed him to remain free. Bucurică was apprehended after an incident where he allegedly carried a firearm and other weapons despite having his gun permit revoked shortly before. He is currently under investigation for multiple offenses.
