The Romanian government has launched the TechUp program, a funding initiative worth over 1 billion EUR aimed at transforming research into production and advancing technology development. Projects must have eligible costs between 5 and 50 million lei, including components for research and production. The program, part of an economic recovery package, has a total budget of 5.313 billion lei, with significant allocations for regional aid and research projects. It introduces a flexible funding mechanism that allows for advances in research and combines grants with tax deductions. TechUp focuses on high-value sectors like AI, biotechnology, and green energy, aiming to enhance Romania's role in global value chains.
