Romania experienced the highest annual increase in fuel prices in the EU, with a rise of 24.2% in July 2026 compared to July 2025. This is significantly above the EU average of 16.9%. Diesel prices rose by 4.6% month-on-month, while gasoline prices decreased by 0.8%. Among EU countries, Romania, Germany, and Lithuania saw the largest annual price hikes, while Hungary was the only country with a slight decrease in prices. Overall, fuel prices in the EU increased by 4.3% for diesel and 4.7% for gasoline in July 2026 compared to the previous month.
