A new political party law proposal in Romania requires at least 100 founding members for registration, aiming to prevent misuse of party formation. The proposal also addresses name cloning issues, ensuring distinctiveness and availability of party names. Existing parties formed with three members will have six months to comply with the new requirements. The law will be enforced by the Permanent Electoral Authority, which will also oversee the registration process and name evaluations.
