Romania is set to construct a segment of the Transylvania Highway that can also serve as an emergency runway for aircraft. This 3-kilometer section, part of the Chiribiș-Biharia lot, has a contract value of 785 million lei, funded by European sources. The construction is led by Precon Transilvania-Citadina 98, with completion expected by May 2027. The project includes a dedicated parking area for aircraft and is progressing ahead of schedule, with 65% of the work completed within a year. Officials express optimism about opening the highway section ahead of the contractual deadline, enhancing connectivity in the region.
